How Much Does Backflow Testing Cost?

One of the first questions we get is simple: what does a backflow test cost? The honest answer is that it depends on a few factors — but the price is usually very reasonable, and we'll always give you a number up front.
What affects the price
A backflow test price typically depends on:
- How many devices you have tested in one visit (multiple devices on the same trip cost less per device)
- The size and type of each assembly (a 3/4" residential double check is quicker than a 10" commercial RPZ)
- Your location within our Northern California service area
- Whether the device passes or needs a repair
Testing vs. repair
A standard test is a flat, predictable cost. If your device fails, that's a separate repair — and we'll give you a clear repair quote on the spot before doing any work. In many cases we can rebuild the assembly the same visit and re-test it, which saves you a second trip charge.
Why the cheapest quote isn't always the best
A certified test is only valuable if it's done correctly and filed with your water district. A bargain price that skips the paperwork, uses an uncalibrated gauge, or misses a failing component can cost you far more in compliance headaches down the road.
